Jill P. Karpel, MD, FACP, FCCP
Dr. Karpel is joining North Shore Medical Arts, LLP in 2009,having spent over 25 years practicing Pulmonary Medicine in academic medical centers and focusing on clinical research in asthma and COPD.
Dr. Karpel received her B.A. with honors from New York University. She obtained her medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and was elected to AOA Honor Society in 1975.
She did three years of Internal Medicine Residency Training Yale New Haven Hospital and was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1978. Dr. Karpel also completed her Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital and was board certified in Pulmonary Diseases in 1983. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American College of Chest Physicians.
Following fellowship, Dr. Karpel joined the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and established a clinical research program in asthma and COPD at the Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Karpel was recruited by the North Shore Health System in 2002 to continue her work in asthma and COPD. She holds the rank of Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Dr. Karpel is actively involved in clinical research in the areas of asthma and obstructive airways disease, has published over one hundred articles, and lectures extensively on these topics.
Dr. Karpel currently has privileges at North Shore University Hospital.
